Charmaine, Lisa & Megan were enthusiastic to return to Paxos in October 2024 and once again worked incredibly hard.
They neutered 102 cats as well as carrying our 3 eye operations, 5 dentals, 1 ear amputation and looking after 3 inpatients
Charmaine sent the following report:
This October vet nurses Lisa & Megan joined me again on Paxos to volunteer at the PAWS clinic. We had an amazing warm welcome from the volunteers and as a team we quickly jumped back into the routine. we were delighted to see the new shed for cat fostering and also the new washing machine! We did notice an increased number of eye problems with cats possibly due to viral infections which occassionally resulted in eye removal.
Our favourite patient was Andreas the ginger cat who supervises events at Gaios port. He was brought to the clinic with a blocked bladder which needed surgery and stayed with us for 3 days post operative care. He returned fit and well to his duties at the port and was there to greet us on our departure day!
A huge thank you as always to all the volunteers especailly Di, Hara & Faye as without them we would struggle. We also appreciated the support from Nefeli and can't wait for our next visit.
Megan said how pleased she was for the amazing opportunity to volunteer on Paxos again. The island of Paxos is magical where the locals and volunteers are always friendly. The work we do as a team is so rewarding and it is such a good feeling to know that in a small way we are helping to improve animal weflare on the island. The majority of the cats look so healthy and that is so great to see.
PAWS greatly appreciates Charmaine, Lisa and Megan and can't wait to welome the team back.
