The Dogs Trust UK very kindly agreed to fund roof repairs at the PAWS clinic in Magazia.
CSL builders from Corfu, led by Roy Churchill agreed to undertake this project and his quote was accepted by PAWS and the Dogs Trust.
The work was carried out in May and reports of its progress together with photographs have been sent to the Dogs Trust.
PAWS is extremely grateful to the Dogs Trust for their continued support. Their financial assistance in 2013 towards renovating the surgery was immensely important to the success of its opening. We hope that the repair of the roof will secure a long life for the premises as a municipal veterinary clinic on Paxos.
The roof repairs at the PAWS clinic have finished.
This work was carried out by CSL builders led by Roy Churchill and was sponsored by the Dogs Trust UK - see above.
Delays to starting the job were unavoidable due to appalling weather in the region during March and continual Greek ferry strikes in April and early May. However Roy and his team finally arrived safely on Paxos on Thursday May 19th and immediately set to work putting up the scaffolding. They began the repairs early on Friday morning but sadly rain stopped play in the afternoon as a severe storm swept across the island. Saturday was a complete wash out but the team were up on the roof early on Sunday and worked a 13 hour day. The weather continued to be favourable and the work was finished on Wednesday May 25th.
Roy and his team worked extremely hard and did an excellent job.
PAWS is very grateful to CSL and to the Dogs Trust for supporting this project. We hope that the new roof will prevent further leaks into the clinic and give the clinic much greater longevity.
James Bolan and his wife Susan Jamieson (regular visitors to Paxos and loyal supporters of PAWS) visited the clinic on Monday May 23rd to see the work in progress and very kindly posed for a photo in front of the Dogs Trust poster - see above.
More pictures of the roof repair are in the photo gallery.
