Further to our first meeting with the Hunters Association on February 14th 2016 (see Nefeli's Winter Experience), PAWS was again invited to discuss animal welfare issues with the Hunters on March 7th. Head vet Russell Lyon handed over a new microchip scanner to Kostas Petrou, chairman of the Paxos Hunting Association. We hope that it will be used by the Hunters' Association Game Keeper during the next official hunting season on Paxos in October 2016. Paxos Hunting Association and the Municipality Authorities are working together to ensure animal protection on Paxos. This will include promoting microchipping of all pets, vaccinations and neutering plus creating specific strategies for dealing with stray animals on Paxos.
