As part of a Volunteering Project Worldwide, a school trip, entitled 'Let's Do it Greece' was arranged for 30 eleven year old children to visit the PAWS clinic at the end of April. They arrived just after 9am and stayed for over 2 hours. They were divided into 2 groups with Faye Lychnou once again acting as interpreter. The children were shown around the clinic and given explanations of how PAWS works as a charity as well as demonstrations of the equipment. All who attended were very interested and full of questions. They were all particularly fascinated by the pulse oximeter and wanted to try it out! - (see photo gallery). Whilst one group was in the clinic, the other children were outside in the garden drawing pictures that reflected PAWS and animal welfare.
Most of the children had a pet at home and were keen to support PAWS and animal welfare on Paxos. To this end it was decided that a PAWS feeding station would be set up at the school where a rota of children would look after it throughout the year. Further reports and photos of this feeding station will follow.The teachers that accompanied the group were lovely and made sure all the children were well behaved. The trip was deemed a great success with many children individually thanking our vet Russell Lyon and his wife Chris in English!
PAWS is hoping that more educational visits and workshops can be arranged at the clinic for both children and adults. More photos of the above trip can be seen in the photo gallery.
